A free Heartsaver AED course will teach the basic techniques of adult CPR and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). Keith Kaiser is learning how some of those techniques can help save lives.
It will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 19 at the Baptist Hospital East Rehabilitation unit.
Instructors are Julie Naville, Occupational Therapy director, and Tina Volz, physical therapist will teach lay rescuers when to phone 911, how to give CPR, how to use an AED, and how to provide relief from choking.
Participants will be tested on a mannequin. Those who are successful will be certified to perform CPR and use an AED on adult victims.
Certification, through the American Heart Association, is good for two years.
Class size is limited to 10 participants.
