Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Student teams from the Conn Center for Renewable Energy Research, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Engineering Fundamentals teamed up with the J.B. Speed School Engineering Friday to see who could create the best solar-powered aircraft.

The flight competition was held from 8 a.m. to noon.

The teams have been working since the beginning of the year to build a solar-powered aircraft capable of flying at least 100 yards.

Teams were scored on the amount of time it takes to charge a battery as well as how long it takes them to reach 100 yards.
