LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Guns and other deadly weapons can be stored in a car's glove compartment while on college campuses in Kentucky.

That's the ruling from the state Supreme Court.

The ruling came in the case of a University of Kentucky graduate student who lost his job in 2009 after campus police found a semi-automatic pistol in his car.

The student, who has a concealed weapons permit, sued the university.

A circuit judge ruled in favor of the school, but the Supreme Court has reinstated the lawsuit, after concluding that the law allows guns to be kept in a car's glove compartment.
