The 2012 Woodford Reserve $1,000 Mint Julep Cup celebrates the glamour and glitz of the Kentucky Derby with the Ultimate Kentucky Derby Luxury. Woodford's Master Distiller, Chris Morris, will show us why this year's $1,000 Mint Julep will double your pleasure.
This year marks the seventh of the program with more than $329,000 raised for worthy equine and humanitarian causes over the past six years.
The Cups:
· This will be the 75th year that the Mint Julep has been recognized as the traditional beverage of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs. The cups will be individually numbered and feature the Woodford Reserve logo along with a unique horse racing design.
· 75 total cups will be sold:
65 Cups will be sold online for $1,000 on a first come, first buy basis.
In addition to the traditional cups, there will also be 10 specialty cups available for $2,000 (Double price - an overall theme this year).

· Starting April 16, noon (EDT), consumers 21 and over can click here to purchase their cup. Sales of all cups will end on May 3 at 12:00pm (EDT). Any unsold cups will be available for purchase on Kentucky Derby Day at the Woodford Reserve $1,000 Mint Julep Cup Experience. The Charity:
· Proceeds from the cups will benefit The Heart of a Horse Foundation.
· The mission of The Heart of a Horse Foundation (HOAH) is quite simple when considering ethical and humane care, treatment and rescue of our equine companions. The Heart of a Horse Foundation's mission is to maintain and stimulate the unwavering well-being of horses in America. The $1,000 Mint Julep will this year will feature "Double" the ingredients as part of highlighting Double Oaked
· Double Oaked:
The first permanent release for Woodford Reserve in the brand's 15-year history is the ultra-premium Woodford Reserve Double Oaked which will be used for each $1,000 Mint Julep.
· Double Mint:
Lemon Mint has leaves that release a lemony-citrusy fragrance when crushed.
Kentucky Spearmint is known as a delicious culinary herb that is highly aromatic.
· Double Ice:
Double distilled, all-natural ice made of limestone water from Woodford County
· Double Sugar:
Bourbon Mint Julep Sugar (Bourbon Barrel Foods) in Louisville, KY. The bourbon-Mint Julep Sugar has all the rich caramel flavors of raw sugar as well as the refreshing flavors of mint.
Bourbon Vanilla Sugar (Bourbon Barrel Foods). The all natural Demerara sugar is packed and aged with Bourbon-Madagascar vanilla beans to enhance the molasses flavors of the sugar with the richness of vanilla.
