LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A metro police officer was hurt when he crashed his vehicle in Old Louisville while trying to make a traffic stop this morning.

Dispatchers tell WDRB the officer was trying to pull over a vehicle near East Oak and Swan Street when he hit a utility pole around 3:30 a.m. The impact knocked out power to about 2,500 customers.

His injuries were described as minor.

Dispatchers say the officer was up and walking around after the crash.

LG&E officials say power has been restored to all affected customers.
