LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana Senator Richard Lugar's career is on the line as voters head to the polls in the state's Republican primary.
Voters will choose between Lugar, who has served in the Senate for 36 years, and his opponent, State Treasurer Richard Mourdock.
Mourdock is backed by the Tea Party, and said to be leading Lugar by as much as 10 points in polls.
Senator Lugar has represented Indiana since 1977.
I'm very grateful that God has given me the strength and vigor, that we have it, we want to continue to exemplify it in service of our country and the very best interest of all Hoosiers," Lugar said.
Mourdock argues Lugar is too liberal for the state of Indiana, and some voters say he has been in the Senate too long.
