LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- They are the men and women credited with helping the youngest tornado victims adjust after the March 2 tornadoes.

On this National Teacher Appreciation Day, the staff of Henryville Elementary School is being honored.

The organization, "Adopt-a Classroom," teamed up with companies like OfficeMax and Post-It to donate $40,000.

That translates to $1,000 per teacher to support their classrooms.

"We weren't expecting this at all," said Tracy Hodson, a teacher. "For everyone to bring all of this...it's awesome."

Henryville's school complex was destroyed when a powerful EF-4 tornado barreled through the center of town.

Students have spent the remainder of the school year learning in temporary classrooms at Graceland Baptist Church.
