LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- It appears that Maker's Mark will hold on to the trademark on its signature dripping wax seal on its bottles. A federal appeals court ruled that the Kentucky bourbon maker holds the trademark on the seal.
The decision comes in a case brought by London-based Diageo North America and Casa Cuervo of Mexico, which used a dripping red wax seal on special bottles of its tequila.
In 2010 a federal judge granted Maker's Mark's request for an injunction stopping other liquor companies from using the seal.
