LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The University of Louisville intends to expand the stadium that is the home to its nationally-ranked baseball program.
Jim Patterson Stadium will have 1,500 chair back seats, and 6,400 square foot terrace, and a ground level terrace added. The project will also include an expanded press box and a visiting team locker room.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Patterson are providing the funding for the expansion. "With their commitment to our Baseball program, we have been able to provide our student-athletes with one of the premier collegiate stadiums in country," said U of L Associate Athletic Director for Development Mark Jurich in a news release.
The expansion will increase the seating to more than 4,000, making it the largest park in the Big East Conference. It will also let U of L host NCAA Regional and Super Regional games without having to rent temporary bleachers.
