I-71 reopens

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Despite the rain Sunday, Interstate 71 reopened at 6 a.m. Monday.

Crews shut down a section this weekend for bridge deck repairs on the northbound lanes, and to repave the southbound lanes.

Officials with the Transportation Cabinet say most of the paving work was completed before the rain.

This includes driving lanes, the left shoulder of the road and the exit ramp to Zorn Avenue.

Rain did delay some work on the outside shoulder and entrance ramp.

Crews will shut down one of the southbound lanes this week at night to finish additional repairs.

As planned, northbound 71 will still only have one lane open until May 26th.
