LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say they have arrested a Louisville man who is accused of trying to kill a murder suspect.

According to an arrest report, 23-year-old William O'Bannon, along with two accomplices, lured the victim, James Mallory, into an alley near the corner of S. 2nd St. and W. Jacob Street on April 10.

Police say their plan was to rob and murder him.

Additionally, Mallory, according to police, was scheduled to appear as a witness in court.

Police say O'Bannon confronted Mallory in the alley and demanded to know if he was going to testify, "against his peoples."

O'Bannon then allegedly pulled a gun and pointed it at Mallory, demanding his property.

Mallory fought off the suspects and ran away. That's when, police say, O'Bannon fired his weapon, hitting Mallory in the leg.

O'Bannon was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with attempted murder, assault and robbery.

It's not the first time Mallory -- the alleged victim -- has been in the news. Police say he is one of three suspects arrested for the murder of 15-year-old Gregory Holt.

Holt was found shot to death on April 11 at his apartment on Clover Street near Dixie Highway.

The murder occurred one day after O'Bannon's alleged assault outlined above.

Holt was a student at Farnsley Middle School.

James Mallory, Anthony Hogan, Junior, and Cannon Curtis Pendergrass were arraigned on charges of complicity to murder and complicity to burglary.
