LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say one intoxicated driver made a big mistake when he smashed into the back of a parked LMPD vehicle.
It happened Monday night, shortly before 10 p.m. Police say 28-year-old Branden S. Ewing was driving a silver Acura northbound on Bardstown Rd., near S. Watterson Trail, when he approached two marked LMPD vehicles.
The officers were conducting a traffic stop, and had their flashing lights activated.
Police say Ewing took no notice and smashed into the back of one of the police cars. That, in turn, caused the police vehicle to hit the back of the car that had been pulled over.
There were two police officers at the scene at the time of the crash, in addition to the individual who had been pulled over.
Police say Ewing smelled strongly of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet.
He was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and three counts of wanton endangerment.
