Jeffersonville, IN (WDRB News) -- Another southern Indiana business is adding workers. Accent Marketing, which is headquartered in Jeffersonville, has moved its call center into a brand new state of the art building.
Local leaders are hoping the new operation will bring more businesses to the area around it. The new call center, which is about 34,000 square fee,t is located near I-65 and Veterans Parkway.
The company takes calls for a number of clients, including General Electric. "We handle ordering and warranty claims and things like that," says Lindsey Thomas, who has worked for the call center for about a year.
The operation and its 400 workers moved here from New Albany to allow Kemper Foods to expand. Both companies had looked at locations out of the area to grow, but both decided to stay in southern Indiana.
Thomas likes the look of her new workplace. "Where we used to work it was a little more closed off," she says, "we have a lot more open areas here, it is a much brighter atmosphere."
Accent Marketing, with its headquarters in Jeffersonville, has 3,000 employees in 11 locations in the United States and two foreign countries.
It has joined with other call center companies in the U.S. pledging to bring such call center jobs back to America.
It is planning to add more jobs in Jeffersonville by the end of 2013.
"This new facility is built to add another hundred jobs," explains Accent CEO Tim Searcy, "but more importantly we want to make this a hub for the at home initiative that we are starting that would allow people to work from their home but tie into the technology in our center here and also come here for training."
Accent Marketing is the first business to locate in the Jeffersonville Marketplace, a 160 acre development just easy of I-65 on Veterans Parkway.
"We have hopes of creating about eight or ten buildings back here, " says Jack Koetter a developer and CEO of the Koetter Group which is building Jeffersonville Marketplace, "Accent has been vital in getting it started and becoming an anchor for this office park."
Accent Marketing is holding a job fair next Wednesday May 23 to fill 40 jobs right away at its call center. For information about that just go to their website www.accentonline.com.
