Salvation Army moves its Center of Hope

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A historic old high school is given new life and is giving back to those in need.  The Salvation Army moved its Center of Hope into the old Male High School building on South Brook Street.

The organization did a massive renovation before moving in, as Center of Hope Director Matt Yates explains: "Today 150 individuals and families will come in here for emergency shelter, 22 single parent families will sleep here tonight in transitional housing, and 28 homeless veterans will lay their head tonight in a safe, secure transitional housing environment."

During this National Salvation Army week, several local restaurants are donating a portion of sales to the organization.  You can find a list of the participating restaurants by clicking here.

NOTE: some restaurants require you to download a flyer and bring it with you.
