LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A suspect is in custody after a SWAT situation in west Louisville at 41st and Herman.
Police pursued two men on foot after an earlier shooting. One juvenile was detained, while police say a 22-year-old man barricaded himself in a nearby home.
"That person was not a actual residence of that home. Apparently, they just ran inside there," says Alicia Smiley, spokesperson with the Louisville Metro Police Department.
The LMPD SWAT team used robots and tear gas in an attempt to get the man out.
After about 6 hours, the SWAT situation ended when police went into the home. The man was brought out of the house and is now in police custody. He's a 22-year-old black male. He will be taken to LMPD Headquarters for questioning.
Shawnee High School went on heightened security Friday due to the incident.
Police say they are questioning both the 22-year-old and the juvenile and that there have not been charges in this case yet.
