LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- This week's deadly shootings in west Louisville are prompting civic groups to step forward.
Sunday morning, members of the Justice Resource Center went door to door in the area near 32nd Street and Vermont asking neighbors to explain their experience with violence.
Many are often scared to step forward out of fear of reprisal.
Reverend James Tennyson said his organization is willing to help in anyway they can.
"We were shocked by the killings and the violence - the only way we are going to get to the root of the problem is by getting community involvement," says Tennyson.
LMPD Chief Steve Conrad told reporters Thursday that patrols would be stepped up in the area.
Three people were killed and three more hurt in two separate but related incidents Thursday.
