LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment after police say he left his baby boy alone in a hot car.

Police were called to an area on Preston Hwy., near Phillips Lane, where a witness said she saw a small baby left alone inside a vehicle. The witness told police she was concerned because the baby appeared to be "hot" and was buckled into a car seat.

When police arrived, they allegedly found 30-year-old Ramdane Chelghoum with the child. The child allegedly had, "a red face and sweat on his forehead."

Chelghoum allegedly told police that he'd left the child alone for 10 minutes while he went inside a store to join his wife -- and that he didn't believe he'd done anything wrong by leaving the child alone.

The temperature was 81 degrees at the time, according to an officer who was on the scene.

The baby was taken to Kosair Children's Hospital for an examination.
