Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An AWOL Kentucky soldier has been convicted of trying to bomb a Texas restaurant full of Fort Hood troops.

Private First Class Naser Jason Abdo was convicted of the most serious charge, attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction.

That could land him in prison for life.

Abdo was also convicted of attempted murder of U.S. officers or employees, and four counts of possessing a weapon while trying to commit a federal crime.

Authorities arrested Abdo at a motel last July while he was AWOL from Fort Campbell.
