SEYMOUR, Ind. (WDRB) -- An attempt to avoiding a coyote was the cause of a car to crash, Thursday night, that injured two people.

In Seymour, Indiana State Police say an SUV swerved to avoid a coyote crossing the highway.

Police say the driver lost control of the vehicle, hit a sign, then a utility pole, and a parked tractor in a field.

When going through a ditch, police say a passenger was ejected. She was taken to a hospital in Indianapolis for head injuries.

A 5-year-old child had stomach and head injuries.

The driver and the 5-year-old's twin were not injured.
