Louisville, KY (WDRB News) -- Some people may be old enough to remember that milk used to be delivered to your front door. A Louisville lawyer and businessman is about to renew that practice.
Bob Ehrler will begin delivering milk out of his truck starting Saturday morning.
"My family was in the dairy business for more than a hundred years, so I've always been interested in dairy," says Ehrler.
The new business called Ehrler's Micro Dairy will be the first milk and dairy delivery service in the Louisville area since the late 1970's.
"The recent reawakening of local foods has gotten my attention and kind of caused me to return to my dairy roots," says Ehrler.
His milk products come from a small dairy operation in Logan County, in southern Kentucky.
Ehrler says home delivery has remained popular in other parts of the country especially out west and in New England.
His business is essentially a one man operation with a little help from a couple of part time workers.
Right now he only has about a dozen customers but hopes that number will grow quickly.
