LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- (WDRB) A former American Idol contestant hired to teach in Southern Indiana backs out of the job.

John Zisa will not teach at New Albany High school this fall.

He just visited the school a few weeks ago to host theater auditions for next season.

The school has not commented on why Zisa changed his mind, but officials plan to see if other finalists are still available.

New Albany's most recent theater director, David Longest retired at the end of the year.
