LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Students were never in danger when a former Wilder Elementary student brought a gun to the school.
JCPS officials say the student was at the school to help a computer teacher Wednesday.
After school was dismissed, he was on the playground and went inside to get his backpack.
That's when he allegedly showed a few kids what he thought was a BB gun he had picked up on his way to the bus stop.
School officials say it was actually a real unloaded 9 mm handgun, but it was so old that it was rusted shut.
The teacher saw it, locked it up and called security and police.
There was never a threat to students since school had been dismissed.
