LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say a Louisville mother decided to take her kids along when she robbed a local Kroger store.

According to an arrest report, Kiarra Kennedy and her children -- ages 6, 4 and six months -- were inside the Kroger store on Buechel Bypass, near Bardstown Road, on Wednesday night.

Police say Kennedy was taking DVDs out of packages and hiding them in her purse and in the car seat, under her six-month-old child. Then she allegedly began walking out of the store, taking over $40 of merchandise with her.

As she was walking out, police say she "head-butted" a Kroger employee.

Police say they were able to stop Kennedy before she could leave. They handcuffed her, but that didn't keep her from trying to get away one last time.

"The subject charged at the female Kroger employee again and kicked her while she was handcuffed," police say. "This assault occurred in front of her children and after the officer had arrived on the scene and placed the subject in handcuffs."

The children's grandmother arrived to take the children home.

As for Kennedy, police say she was arrested and charged with second degree robbery and endangering the welfare of a minor.
