LG&E to ask for rate increase

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Bills could be going up for LG&E customers, if the company gets its way.  The utility plans to ask the state Public Service Commission to raise rates by more than $62 million.

That means the average electric customer would see an increase of just over $7 a month.  The company is also requesting an increase in natural gas rates by more than $17 million, which would equal another nearly $3.50 a month.

LG&E will file for the increase on June 29th, and, if approved, the increases would not start until January.
