The Fund for the Arts 2012 campaign drive is in its final month and ends Jun 30th! Barbara Sexton Smith from the Fund will join us to talk about what you can do to benefit the youth in our area.
Through the generosity of the community the Fund for the Arts has been able to give more than 400,000 children arts experiences. The Fund for the Arts has grown to be a vital part of community outreach and continues to expand as funding increases.
Together through the Arts we create a great American city.
-We generate and facilitate support.
-We lead innovation, inspire excellence and promote effective resource utilization.
-We build bridges and community connections.
Mission:
The Fund for the Arts' mission is to increase revenues for the arts and to enable our community to become the preeminent regional arts center in the United States and to maximize the impact of the arts on overall economic development, education of our children and the enjoyment of living in our community. We accomplish our mission through the enhancements and preservation of resources by providing excellent service.
History:
The Fund for the Arts is the oldest united arts fund in the country and has raised more than $172 million since its establishment in 1949. The 2011 campaign raised more than $7.3 million, a long way from its first campaign in 1949, of $99,000. Today the Fund provides financing, facilities and administrative support for twenty-nine area arts groups and programs. In addition, over 200 community access grants are awarded annually to community groups and schools in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Other Fund sponsored activities include the annual Whittenberg Young Artist Scholarship.
