LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man has been arrested after police say he struck a pedestrian with his car, then drove away, leaving the person in the street to die.

It happened on Graston Ave., shortly before midnight.

Police say 27-year-old Christopher Gregory was driving his silver Honda Accord, when he struck the pedestrian.

Witnesses allegedly told police that when he saw what he had done, Gregory drove away, "at a high rate of speed, without stopping to render aid to [the] injured pedestrian."

The pedestrian was taken to University Hospital, but later died from the injuries. WDRB has not obtained the victim's name.

Gregory was arrested the next day on Taylor Blvd., and police say they found his vehicle at his home, locked behind a privacy fence.

He's been charged with leaving and failure to render aid at the scene of a deadly accident, as well as tampering with physical evidence.

The officers filling out the arrest report requested a high bond for Gregory, as they said he was on felony probation at the time the accident took place.
