LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is facing felony charges after St. Matthews Police officers say he drove into three pedestrians who were walking across Breckenridge Lane Friday night.

According to police documents, 59-year-old Dennis O. Ellis was intoxicated when he turned out of the parking lot of the Jamestown Apartments to go northbound on Breckenridge Lane.

Police say three people -- including a juvenile -- were crossing the street at that time, and were struck.

All three were injured and had to be taken to the hospital, according to the police. Officers say the juvenile sustained "serious" injuries.

Police say Ellis smelled of alcohol, and his eyes were red and glassy. He allegedly admitted to drinking beer with his brother at the Jamestown Apartments before the accident.

Ellis was charged with first-degree assault and DUI.
