LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Johnson & Johnson has paid $7 million to settle lawsuits claiming the company charged inflated prices for drugs to Kentucky's Medicaid program.
Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway says the company inflated its average wholesale prices for the drugs, "which did not bear any relationship to the real prices that they actually charged their customers," according to a news release.
Johnson & Johnson drugs mentioned in the lawsuits included Risperdal (schizophrenia), Propulsid (heartburn), Flexeril (muscle strain), Procrit (anemia), Ditropan (overactive bladder), Haldol (psychotic disorders), and Topamax (epilepsy), and others.
Conway says the Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Control has brought in more than $230 million for the state and federal Medicaid programs since January 2008.
The Attorney General's Tip Line for reporting allegations of Medicaid fraud is 1-877-228-7384.
