Kentucky terror suspect will stay in jail

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The Iraqi man charged with terrorism in Kentucky isn't getting out of jail, but Mohanad Shareef Hammadi will be moved from isolation until his August trial.

He has been held separate from other inmates at the Grayson County Jail since his arrest in May 2011.

During a hearing Wednesday morning, his defense attorney said he would not seek to have the 24-year-old released as part of a deal with prosecutors.

Hammadi faces 12 charges, including attempting to send material support to al-Qaida.

31-year-old Waad Ramadan Alwan has pleaded guilty in the case and will be sentenced in October.
