Priest's sex abuse trial delayed by cancer

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A priest's battle with cancer is delaying his trial.

Rev. James Schook faces sodomy charges, but hearings in his case have been postponed until the end of the year while he undergoes treatment for skin cancer.

A letter from the doctor says Schook has an aggressive form of melanoma and the cancer is in stage four, meaning he has a life expectancy of one year.

Schook has pleaded not guilty to charges of sexual abuse against two boys in 1971 and 1972.
