Kentucky jobless rate down for ten straight months

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- It looks like more Kentuckians are getting back to work.

The state's jobless rate dropped a tenth of a percent from April to May.

It's the tenth straight month the unemployment rate went down.

For the first time since 2004, Kentucky's jobless rate is better or equal to the national rate.

Officials say that over the last few months, more jobs were created than there were people entering the workforce, causing unemployment to fall.

Kentucky's leisure and hospitality sector added the most jobs in May with 2,600 more positions than a month ago.
