'Faith-based' movie films in Borden, Ind.

Posted: Updated:

BORDEN, Ind. (WDRB) -- It's not Hollywood.  But movie makers say Borden, Indiana works just fine as the quiet setting for a new film about a teenager coming to terms with his faith.

It's called "Jackson's Run," and crews filmed actor Rusty Martin on a Borden ball field Friday.

He plays the main character who learns some life lessons through little league baseball.

New Albany native Chris Robinson is the film's co-writer.

"It's a coming of age for a boy who resembles maybe Jacob in the Bible.  He wrestles against God in the beginning, and then he accepts his faith and accepts his destiny," Robinson said.

He described the movie as part of a "faith-based" genre that has increasing popularity.

Borden area ball players played catch as they awaited their scenes.

They also learned one rule of filmmaking.  There's a lot of waiting between scenes.

Filming continues Sunday in Borden.  Southern Indiana churches have provided volunteers and food for the filming.

"Jackson's Run" could open in theaters early next year.  Robinson said he is seeking a distributor for the film.
