CONWAY: Ordinance to fix sidewalks is legal

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- People in Shelbyville may want to post signs telling pedestrians "Don't Tread On Me."

Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway says a city ordinance requiring residents to fix sidewalks that touch their property is legal.

The city sent out letters to 140 property owners telling them to foot the repair bill for 400 damaged sidewalks around town.

The city threatened to put liens on the property of owners who refuse.
