LOUISVILLE, KY (WDRB) -- It's the type of block party that looks toward the future, rather than the past for former addicts. The Healing Place held its annual Alumni Reunion Saturday.
More than 1,000 alumni and their families attended the event. The reunion celebrates a variety of people, those who are off the streets, employed, attending college, reunited with families and functioning as a productive citizen.
"This is a day to just revel in the joy that recovery has brought them. Nobody forgets what they have been through, and the baggage that they have had in the past, but they've resolved that, they're working on it and they come here to just share all the joy that life has brought to them.
The Healing Place has a success rate of 65 percent, five times the national average.
