LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say they have arrested a teen who allegedly tried to start a fire at a west Louisville residence over the weekend.

According to an arrest report, officers responded to a trouble call in the 2300 block of Magazine Street just after 1 p.m. on June 16.

When officers arrived at the scene, they were met by a 13-year-old boy who told police someone was trying to set the place on fire.

The 13-year-old told officers the suspect was in the back yard, and that's where officers found him trying to get away. Officers handcuffed the suspect, 19-year-old Keith L. Ponder, and took him into custody.

According to the victim, Ponder tried to set the structure ablaze several times while people were inside. Police say Ponder used a lighter and an aerosol spray to try to ignite the gas stove; set fire to paper at the front door after spraying what he thought was flammable liquids throughout the house and around the exterior.

Police say Ponder also choked a 15-year-old girl at the apartment complex.

Ponder is charged with attempted arson and four counts of wanton endangerment.
