Louisville Slugger makes special edition bats for Quaker State 400

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Louisville Slugger is going to bat for NASCAR.  On Monday, the factory began making the special edition bats for the upcoming Quaker State 400.

Next week the bats will be given to the NASCAR drivers, team members, and executives.  Sometimes NASCAR drivers use the bats as a very important tool as Mike Schmaltz of the Kentucky Speedway explains:  "Hopefully the drivers won't have to use them. They use them as tools sometimes to get dents out. Hopefully they won't need that for the event this week."

Speedway officials say they went to great lengths incorporating Kentucky-made products into this year's event, from the food to the souvenirs.  The bats will not be for sale to the general public.
