Police arrest Louisville man after finding safe full of pot in car

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Officers arrested a man early this morning after they say they found a substantial amount of marijuana in his car in the city's south end.

It happened around 2 a.m. on June 18 in the 2800 block of the Outer Loop. That's where officers responded to a trouble call and got permission to search a car driven by 20-year-old Steve Gutierrez. During the search officers discovered a safe containing "a large amount of marijuana" and digital scales.

Police say they found more pot in the trunk and a baggie containing three pills which appeared to be the drug Ecstasy. Police say Gutierrez later admitted that the pills were Ecstasy.

According to the arrest report, Gutierrez was carrying nearly $3,200 in cash.

Two juveniles in the car with Gutierrez were also arrested.

Gutierrez is charged with trafficking in marijuana, unlawful transaction with a minor, possession of drug paraphernalia.
