LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Dozens of leaders came together tonight with one goal: reducing the violence in West Louisville.
It was the first meeting for the group that was assembled by Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer.
The group includes 37 leaders from business, civic, government, religious and neighborhood sectors.
It's been one month since two separate shootings left three people dead in the Parkland neighborhood.
"The impact of limited educational opportunity, limited job opportunities, continues to create conditions that continue to give rise to the same kinds of behaviors," said Dr. Blaine Hudson. "So, you can continue to regulate the behaviors, but if you don't do something about the conditions, the behaviors just come back."
Hudson says the group plans to host a number of open forums for feedback and suggestions.
The committee meets again next Monday at the Urban League.
