You probably missed it, but last Wednesday marked the tenth anniversary of "Point of View" here on WDRB.
For a full decade I've offered my opinions on everything ranging from smoking bans to saggy pants. And I've shared the podium with viewers through our weekly telephone response editions and periodic guest editorials.
Occasionally, I'll receive an email asking something like "Why do you think we should all do what you say? Everybody out here doesn't agree with you."
Well, believe me -- I know everyone doesn't agree with me. And I sure don't think everyone should.
I just like conversation. I believe things only get done when people take the time to discuss issues that matter to them in detail and test each other's arguments.
That's what "Point of View" is designed to do. Start a dialogue. Take a side. See how well an opinion stands up to scrutiny and maybe cause something worthwhile to happen. Or maybe keep something not worthwhile from happening.
I do my best to keep up with the issues that affect the community, but I'm sure I haven't thought of everything. So I'd like to ask -- what are some of the topics you'd like to see addressed in future editorials? Call and let me know, and maybe -- with your help -- we can keep doing this for another ten years.
