LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is facing several charges after police say he tried to walk out of a supermarket without paying for merchandise.

According to the police report, Colin Dinatle tried to leave the ValuMarket in the Mid-City Mall on Bardstown Road Tuesday afternoon without paying for a jar of pickles and a jar of olives.

Police say the merchandise was valued at around $6.50; however, Dinatle caused a lot more damage when store employees tried to stop him. He allegedly knocked several items to the floor and threw other merchandise at at employees and bystanders.

Police say employees eventually subdued Dinatle, but not before he punched a freezer and food display. The total damage estimate is over $1,000.

He was arrested and charged with first degree robbery.
