LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The paternal grandmother of Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes died Thursday in Jessamine County.
Thelma Lundergan McHugh became well-known around the state during Grimes' election campaign by appearing in humorous commercials. Those TV spots also featured Grimes' maternal grandmother, Elsie Case.
She was 92. "My grandmother didn't just talk the talk, she walked the walk," said Grimes. "She worked in the Mason County Sheriff's Office for over 20 years, and she stood by my side from the moment I filed to run for public office, through my swearing-in and first six months as Secretary of State. I would not be where I am today without her love, influence and support."
