Councilman Ackerson to return COLA to Louisville Metro Gov't

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Councilman Brent T. Ackerson (D-26) says he will return the two percent cost of living increase he will receive this year.

Ackerson says, "the economy is still improving for the city and many hard working employees need their cost of living increase and that is why I voted for it. However, my family and I are doing okay and with these tight economic times for our city; I cannot accept such a raise. My increase will be sent back to the General Fund."

After the approval of the 2012-2013 Budget for Metro Government by the Metro Council on Thursday, all non-union employees of Metro Government will receive their first cost of living increase in two years.

Ackerson continued, "we have many hard working employees who are making ends meet. I am not in my position to make money but to serve the people."
