GE employees spruce up at Volunteers of America

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- More than 80 GE employees took a day off of work to volunteer their time at Volunteers of America.

The volunteers spruced up the Shelby Street Substance Abuse Treatment Campus with paint, small construction projects, and landscaping to improve the lives of the men in the programs.

As VOA's Jennifer Hancock explains, "It means the world to them to see the support of GE, and coming in and embracing them and giving this building the personal touch to make it feel very home like and comfortable while they work on their issues of addiction."

GE employee Brian Mallory says, "It's a way for us to give a little bit back to the community. The community supports GE and we like supporting it with things like this."

GE volunteers have been working on similar projects like this since April and by July will complete nine functional and 12 community service projects in our area.
