LOUISVILLE, Ky.  (WDRB) -- Fire burned two historic buildings in the vicinity of the Plantation Furniture Store and Mammy's Restaurant in downtown Bardstown, Ky., Thursday evening, authorities said.

A 911 dispatcher told WDRB News one firefighter was treated at the scene for heat exhaustion.  Firefighters from Bardstown and surrounding communities responded to the scene.

The buildings are located just north of the Nelson County Courthouse and Bardstown square area of U.S. 150 and 31-E, also known as North Third Street.

The fire was reported about 5:30 p.m.  There was no initial word on damage, although pictures from the scene show smoke from the top floors.  It took firefighters about three hours to put out the fire; they were working on cleanup late Thursday, a dispatcher said.
