LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A teenager has died after being shot in the head Thursday night. 19-year-old Oladreon Whitfield of Louisville was pronounced dead just after 10 Thursday night at University Hospital of a gunshot wound to the head.
Homicide detectives tell WDRB News the he was shot about 9 p.m. on Thursday night during a fight in the street along Southern Avenue.
Whitfield was originally driven to Norton Hospital in a private vehicle that witnesses reported seeing leaving Russell Lee Park just after the shooting. Police spotted the vehicle and tried to pull it over, but the driver refused to stop for police.
Authorities say their chase from the West End eventually stopped at the Norton emergency room. That's where police discovered the victim, who had been shot in the face.
