New KY Speedway traffic plan keeps focus on race, not gridlock

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY (WDRB) -- Kentucky Speedway officials pulled out all the stops to avoid a repeat of last year's traffic nightmare at the NASCAR Quaker State 400. There were fears that if Saturday's race was another repeat of last years race, NASCAR could be looking for another venue for its Sprint Cup Series.

Traffic was backed up for miles on Interstate 71 and thousands of fans who were so excited about Kentucky's inaugural race, never made it to the track. Since then, the speedway has worked for months on upgrades, a new traffic plan and additional parking.
