LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say a woman living in the Bancroft neighborhood almost lost her eye after three men smashed into her home, looking for a friend.
It happened June 24 on Tavener Drive, just west of the Standard Country Club.
Police say three men, 26-year-old Roger Neal, 27-year-old Christopher Blanton and 29-year-old Jonathan Blanton broke into a home on Tavener Drive, looking for a friend who had been staying at the home while serving out a home incarceration sentence.
According to an arrest report, the three men threw a brick through the dining room window.
Police say that brick hit a woman who lived at the home directly in the face. She was knocked unconscious from the impact.
As the three suspects began trying to force open the front door, two men inside the home were fighting to keep them out.
The trio was pushed outside, where a third resident of the home joined the two men who were trying to fight off the intruders. One of the victims was punched, kicked and placed in a choke hold until he lost consciousness.
The two remaining victims were able to fight off the intruders, who quickly fled, along with the woman who was on home incarceration.
Two of the residents were taken to University Hospital with significant injuries.
Police say the woman who was hit with the brick suffered five fractures to her face and required emergency surgery to her right eye.
"The damage to the victim's eye was so extensive, she nearly lost her eye," police say.
She also suffered a laceration across her nose that required stitches, according to an arrest warrant.
Police say the man who was beaten unconscious suffered swelling to his face, neck and the back of his head. He also suffered bruising to the body.
The remaining two residents suffered minor injuries.
The three suspects were charged with burglary, assault and criminal mischief.
It is not clear why they were looking for the woman who was on home incarceration.
