The recipe for Derby Pie has been a closely guarded secret for the past 60 years.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A brother charged with his sister's death wants to go to her funeral this morning.
Last Monday, police say 20-year-old Jules Snead shot his sister, Jericka, in the upper legs. It happened at a home on Trotters Trace, near Beulah Church Road, after they got into an argument.
Jericka died Monday morning at University Hospital. Snead has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter.
This morning, Snead's attorney, Scott Drabenstadt, told the judge that Snead wanted to attend the funeral, arguing that it would only be a 20-minute private visit.
"He wouldn't stay for the whole funeral," he said. "Corrections is willing to do it, if the court so orders. The family -- I can honestly say the mother has no objections to this."
The judge ruled Snead can see his sister, who is being laid to rest this morning.
His bond is set at $100,000. Snead's attorney is expecting him to post bond next week and be released on home incarceration.
