LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The Madison Regatta kicked back into action Friday -- but problems in the past are proving to be very costly for organizers.
Insurance has more than doubled after three rescue divers were hurt when a speedboat slammed into a rescue vessel during last summer's race. And in 2006, a car plowed into the crowd during the race, injuring eight spectators.
Organizers say insurance for the event now costs $15,000, and that could lead to a $25,000 loss.
The group's president calls the projection a worst-case scenario, but says there's enough money in the reserves to cover the loss.
