Power outage leaves parts of Clark County in the dark

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY (WDRB) -- Officials with Clark County REMC say a transformer at the Bethany substation in Charlestown failed a little before 6:00 p.m.

About 2,800 people are impacted and without power.

The substation is owned by Hoosier Energy. They are bringing in a mobile substation from Bloomington.

They are hoping to have it hooked up within the next 5 hours (by midnight), although it could be later before power is restored.

Hoosier Energy installed the transformer about 2 years ago.

Officials say it is out of the ordinary for a transformer that new to fail.

They haven't determined yet what caused the transformer to fail.
